Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Warsaw on Friday.Şahin met with Cengiz K. Fırat, the Ambassador of Turkey to Warsaw, and civil society organisations in Poland and had one-to-one dialogue with association members, young Turkish investors and students studying in Warsaw.Talking about the activities he participated in the United Nations World Urban Forum, Şahin said that the biggest reason why he took part in the forum as a speaker was that “Gaziantep was declared a green city and pioneered other cities in this regard”.Şahin said: “Development starts at the local level, and it starts at the state level. As representatives of the living city, we adopt the policy of ‘let the people live so that the state lives. ‘”The world is currently going through a period of great chaos and we should focus on what we can do with more accurate planning and systematic work instead of getting caught up in periodic crises.During the visit, Mayor Sahin and Ambassador Fırat answered the questions and listened to the demands of the participants and focused on GastroAntep Festival, possible cultural activities and sustainable urbanisation. Afterwards, Şahin and Fırat made evaluations on joint projects that they could do together with business people from different sectors and non-governmental organisations.
