Having led the establishment of strong ties between Poland and Turkey with his valuable work for many years, Prof. Dr. We visited Hacer Topaktas Ustuner at the Department of Polish Language and Literature at Istanbul University. We would like to thank Ms. Hacer for her hospitality and conversation.
As an association, we had the opportunity to chat with Mrs. Hacer, whose work we have followed and appreciated for many years, about the studies of the institute and TURKPOL projects. We would like to thank once again for the books “The Last Ottoman Ambassador in Poland” and “Polonezkoy 180 Years of Past”, which he presented to our TURKPOL library, which will be opened in Warsaw in July.
Who is the Prof. Dr. Hacer Topaktas Ustuner?
Prof. Dr. Hacer Topaktas Ustuner graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, Fatih Faculty of Education, Department of History Teaching. He completed his master’s degree in the History Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the same university, and his doctorate in the History Department of the Faculty of Letters of Hacettepe University. It was supported with scholarships by the Polish Government, TÜBİTAK, YÖK, TTK, DAAD and TÜBA. He has been at Kraków Jagiellon University, University of Warsaw, University of Bonn, University College London and Moscow University of Economics (HSE). He is still working as a faculty member at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Istanbul University, Department of Polish Language and Literature. His Ottoman Polish Diplomatic Relations, Franciszek Piotr Potocki’s Istanbul Embassy (1788-1793), Documents on Ottoman-Polish Relations in the Period of Suleiman the Magnificent (1520 1566) (with H. Ahmet Arslantürk), An Ottoman Ambassador in Poland, The Polish Embassy and Embassy of Haji Ali Agha from Zistovi (1755) and Sultan II. Abdülhamid and Diplomacy, Hüseyin Kazım Bey’s Diplomatic Travels (1882-1887) and The Last Ottoman Ambassador in Poland, Numan Bey’s Warsaw Embassy and Sefâretnâmesi (1777-1778), as well as Turkey-Poland relations, Eastern European history, He has studies on Ottoman diplomacy and political history. He was deemed worthy of the Turkish Academy of Sciences TEÇEP award in the field of social sciences in 2015, the Turkish Academy of Sciences GEBIP award in 2017, the Wrocław Medical University, First Degree Individual Rector award in 2020, and the Benedykt Polak award in the Foreign Researcher Category in 2021 by the Explorers Club.
